How to Use This Music Metronome Clicker

1. Set the Tempo (BPM)

Use the slider or input to set your tempo in beats per minute (BPM). The range is from 40 BPM (slow) up to 208 BPM (fast). The milliseconds per beat update automatically to help you understand tempo in both musical and technical terms.

2. Choose a Time Signature

You can easily select any time signature by adjusting the top and bottom numbers.

  • Top number = how many beats per measure
  • Bottom number = which note value counts as one beat

Popular examples:

  • 4/4 Metronome – the most common time signature in modern music
  • 3/4 Metronome – often used in waltzes, jazz ballads, and certain folk styles
  • 6/8 Metronome – for compound meters and triplet feels

This makes it ideal for practice across different genres and musical styles.

3. Select a Subdivision

Break down each beat using subdivisions like:

  • Quarter notes
  • Eighth notes
  • Triplets
  • Sixteenth notes
  • Dotted rhythms

These rhythmic breakdowns can help you stay tight when playing syncopated rhythms or fast passages.

4. Start and Stop the Click Track

Click Start/Stop to toggle playback. The tool gives both audible clicks and visual beat pulses, making it useful whether you’re listening or just watching.

5. Visual Feedback

The large pulsing circle in the interface shows beat numbers clearly. Dots below represent each beat in a measure and respond in real-time.

  • Play with the sound off
  • Sync visually when practicing quietly
  • Understand beat grouping intuitively

What is a Metronome?

A metronome is a tool that produces a consistent beat to help musicians keep time while practicing or performing. It clicks at a set tempo, measured in beats per minute (BPM). You can think of it as a musical stopwatch.
